Filler Metals

Brazing, gas welding, and some arc welding processes require filler metal to create optimal joints. The compatibility of the materials to be joined and the filler is the most crucial factor that influences bonding. Typically, compatibility means matching the mechanical and chemical characteristics of the base metal and filler. Similar tensile and yield strength contribute to reducing typical welding imperfections that can lead to cracking and corrosion. Filler metals are available in rods or wire, and many sizes and sections are available. Rods come with lengths ranging from 12 to 36 inches, while their diameters can vary from 1/32 to 3/8" approximately.
