Air Desiccant Dryers

Air desiccant dryers are helpful, if not vital, tools in industrial environments. Their purpose is to remove water from the compressed air in order to prevent damage to expensive machines, avoid paint coating defects, etc. The dryers exploit the hygroscopic properties of special substances that include silica, calcium chloride, and activated charcoal, among others. In some specific cases, the combinations of desiccants are utilized to improve the result. A typical desiccant dryer features a two-tower scheme to ensure continuous function. The system runs one tower at a time to remove water and moisture from the pressurized air, while the other one undergoes the regeneration process.

During this process, the water is removed from the absorbing material. Once it's regenerated, and the desiccant in the active tower is saturated, this tower enters the regenerative mode instead of the previous one.
