Blind Rivets

Blind rivets are used in different applications where the back side of construction can’t be accessed in any other way. A typical rivet's construction is made up of two pieces, the outer part called the body, and the inner one known as the stem or mandrel. These components come as a complete unit. In order to use such a rivet, you need to drill out a hole and put it inside. Then, you will need a special tool to draw the mandrel which, in its turn, will make the rivet's body slightly expand on the other side thus clamping the whole joint down.

The rear end of the mandrel comes with a bulge that actually deforms the rivet from the inside, exactly where you need. When the necessary clamping force is attained, the stem snaps off and is later discarded, thus leaving a secure mechanical connection. One of the main benefits of using such rivets is that they can easily adjoin two different materials together, without dealing with threads or welding.
