Crimping is a special kind of mechanical connection utilized to join thin wires together or attach electrical connectors. If compared to soldering or wrapping, crimping brings a number of benefits when it comes to low-voltage circuits. It’s a quick and convenient process that doesn’t imply heating the neighboring parts. Because of the absence of molten solder, such mechanical joints are strong enough, which is especially crucial when connecting some hard-to-solder metals. Crimp connectors are utilized for cables with different cross-sections, and special models are used to perform the crimping of various types of cables.
The handles are utilized to squeeze the terminal placed into the barrel. Cold-forming is the process which makes a cable bond in several places under considerable pressure of the tool, all in order to ensure a reliable connection which occupies minimum space and can be used in those places where soldering is inconvenient or even impossible. Mechanical deformation becomes permanent, with the ends that can’t be reused.
