Brazing, gas welding, and some arc welding processes require filler metal to create optimal joints. The compatibility of the materials to be joined and the filler is the most crucial factor that influences bonding. Typically, compatibility means matching the mechanical and chemical characteristics of the base metal and filler. Similar tensile and yield strength contribute to reducing typical welding imperfections that can lead to cracking and corrosion. Apart from the chemical and mechanical compatibility, other vital aspects to consider include the type of welding equipment, possible further treatments, specific regulations, and particular design requirements.
Filler metals are available in rods or wire, and many sizes and sections are available. Rods come with lengths ranging from 12 to 36 inches, while their diameters can vary from 1/32 to 3/8" approximately. Available rod materials include tungsten, nickel, stainless steel, bronze, and manganese, while most wires are made from aluminum or mild steel. On our virtual shelves, we have stocked a wide assortment of quality filler metals including MIG welding wires, stainless steel and titanium TIG electrodes, stick welding electrodes, and brazing rods. Our products are made by trustworthy companies to meet the standards for the category and are offered at very competitive costs.
