When you need to make a hole in a concrete wall, masonry, or tiles to install an anchor or other type of fastener, a hammer drill is a virtually indispensable power tool. A traditional, non-hammer drill is almost useless there, as it can't make impacts for deepening a hole in such materials. Most drills allow you to adjust speed for higher efficiency, however, the list of interesting features does not end here. The modern market offers both corded and cordless models; the latter have a powerful battery enabling you to work in places without an AC network.

Most of such models have a mid-handle design with an improved weight balance, a more convenient solution for many workers if compared to traditional rear-handle drills. Besides, many cordless tools feature co-called brushless electric motors that have no carbon brushes and potential issues related to these components – more friction and the need to replace worn-out brushes once in a while. Another feature that can be essential for those who often replace drill bits is a keyless chuck making this procedure faster and easier.
