The modern market offers numerous screw drive types used in different industries, such as Torx, hex, Phillips, triple square, and many others. All of them have different designs to meet various engineering requirements in terms of tightening torque, durability, wear resistance, or security. However, each kind implies using only compatible bits and sockets, and there may be some confusion, as certain types look quite similar. Ribe and Polydrive standards are a good example. The former can be found in many Italian cars and motorcycles, while the latter is utilized in some vehicles by Volkswagen and Audi.

The shapes of Ribe and Polydrive seem to be the same, and even some retailers sell them as one standard. However, if you look closer, you will find some differences in edges, which seem to be insignificant but result in an improper fit. For instance, if you use Ribe bits for Polydrive bolts located in cylinder heads, you risk damaging these bolts, as their tightening torque is high enough. Therefore, use the standard specified by the manufacturer of your machinery, and if Ribe driving bits are required, you will find the necessary tools in our inventory.
