Typically, sandpapers are classified according to their coarseness defined by the size and material of abrasive particles. Extra-coarse and coarse papers are at the lower end of the grit scale with 40- and 60-grit values and are used for the stripping of rough surfaces. Medium-coarse types work great to remove imperfection and so on, up to the extra finishing paper with more than 320-grit grade for the final touch.
